ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court hearing on Friday reserved the decision on former premier Nawaz Sharif’s appeal regarding the delay in the announcement of the verdict of Avenfiled cases against him and his family.
However, the verdict is expected to be announced today.
Strict security arrangements are done on the premises of the Federal Judicial Complex, where the court is located. The district administration has imposed Section 144 in the city to avoid mass gatherings.
Moreover, the roads that lead to the complex are being closed for the traffic.
Judge Mohammad Bashir and the prosecution team reached the court’s room and the hearing is underway.
According to the reports, before going into further proceedings, the judge will hear Nawaz’s request that was submitted on Thursday and sought delay in verdict till he and Maryam return to the country.
Nawaz and Maryam are in London since June 14 attending their ailing wife and mother respectively.
Previously on Tuesday, the court had reserved the verdict and ordered every accused to be present in the next hearing (today).
However, Maryam and Nawaz are not back yet.
Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Caption Safdar are facing three corruption cases in the accountability court after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed references against them in light of the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Panama Papers case last year.
