MUZAFFARABAD: The Indian forces on Saturday continued unprovoked firing at the Line of Control, killing a woman and injuring three others.
The shelling from Indian side hit a house in Nakyal sector, killing 30-year-old Rudeba Kauser on the spot while injuring six-year-old Hubeda Kausar, 26-year-old Sufeda Kausar and 28-year-old Sumeda Kausar.
Pakistan Army gave a befitting response, halting gunfire from the Indian side.
Soon after the incident, the Foreign Office summoned India’s Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh to lodge protest over the ceasefire violation.
South Asia Director General and Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Faisal handed over the protest letter to the Indian diplomat, in which Pakistan again called on India to abide by the ceasefire agreement. He urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement; investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violations; instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary. He urged that the Indian side should permit UNMOGIP to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.
