LAHORE: Six MNAs and 2 MPAs from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) parted ways with the party and announced to struggle for the cause of south Punjab province.
Lawmakers from south Punjab held a press conference earlier today and announced decision to quit PML-N, while they also vowed to create a separate province.
The lawmakers include Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, Aalim Dar Lalika, Basit Bukhari, Syed Asghar Ali Shah, Rana Qasim Noon among others.
Addressing the press conference, former minister Khusro Bakhtiar said that the lawmakers have decided to quit the party and launched movement for south Punjab’s cause. He added that Mir Balakh Sher Mazari will lead the movement.
Rana Qasim claimed that “without our support, PML-N would not be able to win elections.” He added that a separate south Punjab province would make the federation stronger.
Earlier today, PML-N leaders Ali Asghar Manda and Tariq Mehmood Bajwa announced that they are parting ways with the party.
MPAs Tariq Mehmood and Ali Asghar further announced that they would be contesting the general elections 2018 as independent candidates.
Asghar said that he would be contesting for a seat in the National Assembly against federal minister Rana Tanveer Hussain from the NA-132 constituency, while Tariq Mehmood announced that he would be contesting against MNA Barjees Tahir.
Ali Asghar was elected as Punjab MPA in 2013 from PP-165, while Tariq Mehmood was elected MPA from PP-170.
