ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has ordered Shaheen Air to provide 100,000 in compensation to all passengers who were stranded on Guangzhou Airport in China for three days.
The three member bench headed by the Chief Justice of Paksitan (CJP) Saqib Nisar comprised of Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan and Justice Umar Atta Bandial.
The CEO of Shaheen Air Ahsan Subhai appeared in court today and expressed regret that passengers had to face the delay.
The Chief Justice asserted that Shaheen Air will have to compensate the passengers and before that is done the CEO’s name will be placed on the Exit Control List (ECL).

The Attorney General said in court that the Shaheen Air in in debt with a billion PKR and was warned prior to their flight regarding the cancellation. Justice Ijaz remarked that Shaheen Air’s attitude resulted in the China crisis.
CEO Ahsan Subhai has said that Shaheen Air is ready to provide 5 million PKR in compensation.
Shaheen Air’s lawyer further said that the airline took care of all expenses of the stranded passengers and that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) should be held accountable.
The CJP said that they are already looking at the role of the CAA and the next hearing is scheduled 20th August.
